Green Career Pathways, founded by Debra Horen of Next Path, started as a community service to connect people interested in pursuing green careers with local San Diego cleantech resources. The purpose: to grow San Diego's green workforce and economy. Our early focus has been on helping job seekers gain the necessary training and experiences to become qualified for the emerging green sector.
In keeping with our mission to help job seekers accelerate their green careers, we are now working with recruiters, as well as employers, to connect qualified job candidates to clean and green jobs.
The Green Talent Pipeline
While much of the U.S. economy continues to struggle, many companies involved in solar, wind, biofuels, energy efficiency, green building, and other sustainable efforts are well positioned for growth. Venture capital, business, and government investments are fueling cleantech expansion at a highter rate than most other sectors.
What are the green jobs? Where are the green jobs? How can I find them? What qualifications do I need to start or transition to a green career? Where can I get the training I need? You can find answers to many of these questions on this site.
If it still seems a little fuzzy, understand that we are building the road we are driving on. Remember the world before the personal computer? That was a disruptive technology. Did businesses have an IT Department? The Internet? Cell phones? Whole sectors have grown up and transformed the way we do business and shop and read and have conversations and live.
This is still a tough economy. This is not a cattle call. It’s a wake-up call. It’s time to get ready so you can be at the head of the line. Due to climate change and the disruptive danger we have created… and now face …we have a great opportunity. We are finally on our way to building a greener, more equitable, and a better world.
