                                 Green Career Pathways Kickoff Event

On August 1, 2009, a host of green thought leaders, policy makers, educators, trade and labor groups, community and business leaders came together to provide 340 job seekers the opportunity to learn about educational, training and apprenticeship opportunities.

The purpose of this event was to begin to grow the San Diego green workforce by presenting the latest data on green careers, educational opportunities, and a line of sight to the green work projects commencing in the region in 2009/2010. This full afternoon will helped those interested in green careers and businesses make informed choices about how best to transition, prepare, and position themselves for success.

There were over 30 exhibitors: educational and vocational institutions as well as trade groups, green non-profit organizations, and career coaches on the exhibit floor. Dislocated workers, as well as many others, learned about their eligibility for Workforce Investment Act (WIA) tuition reimbursement.
